Year 2

I hope you all enjoyed the holidays and are now ready for lots of hard work!!   

 

Our topic this term is 'Ice Adventures'. We will be learning all about Antarctica and the Arctic regions. Year 2 will be looking at all the different animals from the area and how they survive. We will also be learning about famous explorers and how to carry out an expedition.

If you have any books at home that are linked to our topic, then please bring them in for us to look at!!

 

Home learning : Home learning  will be given out each Friday and needs to be returned the following Wednesday, ready for the new task. Spellings are also given out each Friday. Please learn these with your children as spelling is a huge part of the Year 2 curriculum. 

 

PE DAYS are THURSDAY and FRIDAY. Please ensure a full PE kit is in school on these days and all earrings are taken out. Thanks!

Welcome back after the Easter Holidays! I hope you are all ready for lots of hard work this term as it is a very busy time for us in Year 2. 

 

Our text in English is 'The Twits'. It would be great if you could read this book at home too ready for all of our learning in school. 

 

Our focus in Mathematics this term will be money, time and statistics. We will also be completing our times table challenges more often so please help your child with these. 

 

SAT's week for Year 2 will be week beginning 20th May so it is really important that your child is in school every day. 

 

Home learning should be returned by Wednesday ready for the following week. Spellings will also be given out on a Friday ready for a test the following week. 

 

PE: Lessons will be on a Thursday and a Friday this term. Can you pleas make sure all PE kits are in school and any earrings are removed for these days.

This term our topic is 'The Great Fire of London'. We will be finding out what caused this devastating fire, why is spread so quickly and a man called Samuel Pepys. 

 

In English our texts this term will be 'Man on the moon, a day in the life of Bob' and 'The true story of the three little pigs'.

READING...

Reminder: Please make sure reading books are returned to school as regularly as possible. Books will not be changed unless the reading record has been signed by an adult.

BUGCLUB: Don't forget you can also read at home using the bug club website. Each child has their own login details to access books.
