Design and Technology Rationale
Intent
Design and technology helps to prepare children for the developing world. It is our intent for the children to become creative problem-solvers, both as individuals and as part of a team.
The aim is for the children to use their imagination and creativity to design and make a range of products, drawing on their mathematics, science, computing, and art knowledge.
Design Technology is to be taught in all year groups, in weekly blocks, through two components of the Design and Technology curriculum per year group. Key objectives of intent within the Design Technology Curriculum based on the National Curriculum 2014 guidance:
· Products are to be made for a purpose.
· Individuality should be ensured in children’s design and construction of products.
