Phonics is an essential part of our curriculum. It creates the foundations for reading and spelling.
It takes place daily from Nursery to Year 2, and also for older children where it is needed. A statutory screening for Year 1 children takes place annually. Those children who do not achieve the expected standard in that assessment will retake it in Year 2. You will be informed at the end of Year 1 of your child's level.
